Propalin Syrup for Dogs
Propalin Syrup for Dogs is a clear, colourless solution containing 40mg/ml of Phenylpropanolamine. Propalin is supplied in bottles of 30ml or 100ml. and is for the treatment of urinary incontinence associated with sphincter mechanism incontinence (SME) in dogs. It is not appropriate for the treatment of behavioural causes of inappropriate urination. Sphincter mechanism incontinence is the most common cause of urinary incontinence in dogs, especially neutered bitches. It occurs mostly in large-breed dogs.
How does Propalin work? Urinary incontinence is normally caused by the loss of muscle tone in the urethra sphincter. The Phenylpropanolamine works by stimulating the receptors in the muscle to cause them to tighten. Therefore, this can prevent any leaking. The recommended dose is 0.1ml of Propalin Syrup per 5kg bodyweight three times a day. It is advised to administer it three times a day as Propalin does not last long in the body. Propalin can be issued on a long term basis. Full instructions for using Propalin Syrup are included. It is also supplied with an easy to use dosage syringe. Dosage instructions shown above are for guidance only. Please always consult your Vet.Do not administer to pregnant or lactating bitches.
Propalin Syrup is a prescription item and will be sent once a valid prescription is received.
